About

Me in a Nutshell

Things I Care About

Life can be rough and get on our nerves. Yet, humans have the built-in ability to heal, overcome obstacles, and rebuild their circuity. In counselling with me, you will enter into a safe and non-judgmental space that allows for transformative experiences and helps re-kindle your healing powers and growth.

In this space, I listen deeply for the outspoken pains and the unspoken hopes. I help to uncover strengths and supports within and without while fostering a feeling of trust and connection. My counselling style is infused with playfulness, sincerity, and an appreciation for all things that make us human: body, mind, heart, and spirit.

I value your truth, trust, and freedom; both as resource and as result of healing and happiness.

Things I Wonder About

You will receive counselling that is well researched and guided by the heart. I work from a client-centred, needs-focused, and trauma-informed base and integrate aspects of the humanistic-existential tradition with compassionate communication, and process-based cognitive-behavioural therapy. I don't think one size fits all and therefore tailor the counselling process depending on the preferences and needs of the client.

For some, that might mean simply talking, receiving acknowledgement and using the space for self-empowerment. For others, it might mean mindfulness exercises, visualizations, or expression through art, metaphors, and body language.

The work in session can at times be comforting while at other times challenging. I attempt to help clients find a balance between the two.

Things I Bring to the Journey

More than 15 years of experience in the health and social field while working as a care aide, consultant, and counsellor have helped me to see health holistically. My formal education in health promotion and counselling has taught me a lot.

However, some of the best teachings I have received came through life experience, facing my own ordeals, and seeing the tremendous wisdom and resilience of my clients.

Choice and Informed Consent

I value warmth, acceptance, and choice in relationship with oneself and one another. Honouring confidentiality, providing transparency and choice throughout the therapeutic journey are my highest priorities. It is normal to feel nervous when starting counselling. I will always respect and provide space for your opinions and decisions.

If what you read resonates with you, feel free to reach out and we can make a time to explore how I can assist you and how we can work together. I offer in-person services out of my spacious office as well as online sessions using software that protects privacy and confidentiality.

It might be a longer journey or just a short excursion. Both are ok. We will take it one step at a time. You are in the driver's seat. You are invited to make the call.
